
A Brief Intro to Indianapolis Art Center: Exhibitions and Other Info about the Center
The Indianapolis Art Center is an establishment set up for encouraging and providing employment to local artists. Set up in 1934, the center hires artists as faculties for art classes for children as well as adults and offers exhibition space and opportunity for professional artists. The Indianapolis Art Center is located at 820 East 67th Street.
Events and Exhibitions: The Indianapolis Art Center holds exhibitions and events showcasing art work of local professional artists ranging from pottery to paintings. Other interesting events are the Annual Faculty Show and Annual Student Show.
Do not miss the Broad Ripple Art Fair held at the Indianapolis Art Center in the month of May every year. A tradition from 1971, the fair is attended by more than 225 artists from across America and Canada. This is a community affair which attracts visitors of all age from Indianapolis, IN. There are creative areas for children, gourmet food courts, stalls by local organizations, a wine and beer garden, as well as live entertainment of numerous stages arranged in the venue.
The Indianapolis Art Center holds open house exhibitions regularly when all students, faculty members as well as visitors can join and showcase their works of art. Much of the art work is also available for sale. This is an interactive event in which visitors can sit on the potters wheel to try making a pot of their own, learn making prints in the print making studio, learn jewelry making by forging and fusing metal, and also indulge in making paintings.
