The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art has been located in the downtown area of Indianapolis, Indiana, housing a great collection of artifacts from Native Americans and sculptures and Western American paintings collected by Harrison Eiteljorg, a philanthropist and businessman who lived from 1903 to 1997. A fine collection of contemporary art from native people is also present in the museum.

At present, the museum serves as a part of White River State Park of Indianapolis which is also home to Indianapolis Zoo, Indianapolis State Museum, Victory Field, NCAA Hall of Champions, White River Gardens and the Military Park. The museum has a White River State Park Garage which offers free parking area for the visitors.
In the year 2005, the museum's public space was almost doubled as an event space, outdoor gardens, an education center, Sky City Cafe and 3 new galleries were opened. Out of these 3 new galleries, two of them are dedicated to the contemporary art collection of the museum which includes works from Kay WalkingStick, T C Cannon and Andy Warhol. The remaining one gallery has been termed as Gund Gallery of Western Art and is dedicated to 57 pieces of traditional Western art which the George Gund Family donated to this museum.
Apart from the exhibitions, the Eiteljorg museum also features entertaining and educational programs like workshops, artists in residence and lectures. The museum store situated in the museum is rated as number one museum store of Indianapolis and special discounts are offered to children, scheduled groups and seniors.
The highlights of the museum collection are works by renowned artists like Joseph Henry Sharp, Ernest Blumenschein, Victor Higgins and E I Couse. The collection of Native Americans includes pottery, wood carvings, basketry, apparel and beadwork. There are more than 3400 pieces of art in the museum's collection.
