
Fort Harrison State Park
The Fort Harrison State Park is a 1700 acres park full of fun activities and having a rich history. A prisoner-of-war camp of the Second World War is the major attraction of the park. As far as recreational activities are concerned, the park has several bicycle, jogging and walking trails and it also makes arrangements for fishing. There are also horse trail rides, hay rides, a nature center and picnic areas.

Also known as Fort Ben, the Fort Harrison state park features a Military Training Camp of a former Citizen and a Civilian Conservation Corps Camp. Unlike other state parks of Indiana, this is a park to be visited in the day only. The only services that are offered in the night also are the inn and the Fort Golf Resort.
If you are a golfing lovers, then the 18 hole golf course of the Fort Harrison state park will be great fun for you. Pete Dye re-designed the golf club after the closure of the fort and since then, it has become a 72 par course. One thing you must keep in mind is that only golfers can enter into the golf course.
VIP housing have now become the Harrison House Suites and the homes of the three officers have become available for lodging overnight as well. There are basically three trails for hiking out of which one is for horse back riding. The Harrison Trace Trail, a hiking trail in the park, has been paved and thus, it has become a great trail for in-line skating and biking.
