Guide to President Benjamin Harrison Home in Indianapolis: Knowing about His Accomplishments in His Life

Benjamin Harrison Home is located in Historic District in the Old Northside of Indianapolis. It is basically the residence of former USA President Benjamin Harrison. It was built in the year 1870 using red bricks.

This museum is dedicated to the accomplishments of Benjamin Harrison and the exhibits narrate the story of this extraordinary visionary of USA. This is now managed by Benjamin Harrison Foundation and it has been conferred the status of National Historic Landmark by Department of Interior of USA.

Guided tours are available during the entire week in this museum for visitors. Visitors will be able to see 10 rooms in the building including the ball room located in the third floor. The Indianapolis tours normally take 1 hour and the guide will tell you the true stories behind the exhibits. The exhibits include the first train that the President rode, documents to show his accomplishment as a President, lawyer and soldier. Documents and artifacts to make you understand his campaigns throughout his tenure are also there. You will also find the history of William Henry Harrison and the Tiffany Touch.

The newest incorporation to the museum is the painting collection Carolina Scott Harrison. All her watercolor paintings feature in this art collection. There is a library which has manuscripts, books, pamphlets, microfilms and newspapers from Harrison's times. His family genealogy documents can also be found in here. There is a separate photograph collection depicting the various accomplishments of President Harrison.

The museum remains open from 10 to 3.30 from Monday through Saturdays. During the months of June and July, the museum opens on 12.30 and closes at 3.30 on Sundays. Admission fee for adults is $8 and children is $3.
