Indiana State Museum is located within the White River State Park in Indianapolis. It has the only IMAX Theater in Indianapolis and an exhibit space of over 40,000 square feet displaying an extensive collection of more than 300,000 artifacts. Museum Hours: Since Jan. 4, 2010, Indiana State Museum has been closed on Mondays. So now the opening hours of the museum is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. On Sunday, the museum will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
On Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, Indiana State Museum will be closed. Hours may vary on Holidays. If there are special events such as parades or races, hours might vary a little bit either due to restrict traffic in the neighborhood. You'd better refer to their calendar for exceptions:

IMAX Theater Hours: You should notice that the operating hours of IMAX Theater is different from the museum. IMAX Theater offers 45 to 1 hour IMAX films in stunning IMAX 3D. Eager to know what's coming up at IMAX Theater? Let's take a quick preview.
The film "In The Long Run" will be presented at 7:00 pm on February 5th. It only plays for one night. Don't miss it if you are interested! On February 11, 2011, IMAX Theater offers Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World. On April 8, 2011, "Born to the Wild 3D" is presented. Museum Store Hours: There is a two-story gift shop at Indiana State Museum. It offers a wide selection of souvenirs and gifts including Indiana arts and crafts, special jewelry, educational toys and much more.

Historic Sites Hours: The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites Institution boasts 11 historic sites across the state. They are great destinations to hike, picnic and explore the rich history of Indiana. In the following part, we'd like to give you a bird's-eye view of the opening hours of all the 11 historic sites:
1.Angel Mounds - From Tuesday to Saturday, it's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
It's closed on Mondays, New Years Day, Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and other state holidays.
2.Corydon Capitol - From April 1 to Nov.24, it's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. From Jan.2 to March 31, it's open from noon to 4:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday.
It's closed on Mondays, Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Nov. 25 - Jan. 1.
3.Culbertson Mansion: It's open only during April 1 to Dec. 19. Tuesday through Saturday, it's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
It's closed on Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.
4.Gene Stratton-Porter State: Generally, it's open only during April 1 to Dec.1. Tuesday through Saturday, it's open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. During Dec.2 to March 31, it will be open by appointment only.
It's closed on Mondays, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve.
5. Historic New Harmony - It's open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm daily. And it's closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
6. Lanier Mansion - It's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. And it's closed on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, General Election Day, Vetrans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
7. Levi Coffin Home - From June 1 to Aug.31, the opening hour is 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm from Tuesday through Saturday. During Sept.1 to Oct.31, it's open only on Saturdays from 1:00 PM TO 4:00 pm.
It's closed on Primary Election Day, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Election Day and Veterans Day.
8. Limberlost - During winter from Dec.21 to March 31, the opening hour is 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. From April 1 to Dec. 18, it's open 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Wednesday through Saturday. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
It's closed on Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day and Veterans Day.
9. T.C. Steele - From Tuesday to Saturday, it's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, it's open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
It's open all year around except Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Election Day, Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day.
10. Vincennes - It's open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. And it's closed on Sundays and most state holidays.
11. Whitewater Canal - The opening hour of Metamora Grist Mill is 9:00 am - 5:00 pm from Wednesday to Sunday during the period from April 1 to Nov. 20.
It's closed on Easter, Primary Election Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Election Day and Thanksgiving.
