The Indiana State Museum has been built within the grounds of the White River State Park and has been in existence since 1862 when it was first begun as a collection of natural history records and artifacts. This initial set up was implemented under the guidance of R. Deloss Brown who at that time was the State Librarian.
Located at 202 N. Alabama Street, the Museum is not just of great historic value but also of architectural worth as many consider it to be one of the most detailed expressions of the architectural styles of the 20th Century. The museum finds mention in the prestigious National Register of Historic Places.
