Located in White River State Park in downtown Indianapolis, the zoo is spread over 64 acres and is home to 360 animal species the world over. The animals are housed in biomes or areas that resemble their natural habitat. A visit to the Forests biome will give you a chance to see the endangered Amur tiger from Siberia, Red Pandas, and the American Bald Eagle. The Oceans biome is home to the largest dogshark, penguins, bonnethead sharks and many other kinds of fish. See the animals basking in the sunlight at the Deserts Dome including tortoises, lizards, and a variety of venomous snakes.
Watch the zebras graze in the Plains Biome, along with ostriches, vultures, the endangered White rhinoceros, and many more. The perfect place to de-stress is amongst the dolphins in the Dolphin Pavilion. These amazing sea creatures perform live shows, and you can get a good view of them from the underwater dome. With so much to see at the Indianapolis Zoo, get ready to spend a few days there and stay in one of the finest Indianapolis hotels.
