Speaking about movie theatres, the first theatre that comes to everyone's mind in Indianapolis is the Murat Theatre. There is an interesting history behind this theatre. The 1909 built Murat temple-contained architectures of Arabian and Egyptian at the hallway decorations. The theatre is quite complex in all its kind like color films being released in a very elegant Egyptian style room with hieroglyphics covered columns. The theatre was suspended for a period of five years during 1990 to 1995, after which it was renovated beautifully.

Civic theatre is the only community theatre in United States operated for longer time in history. No other community theatre has achieved this feat and Civic theatre is one of the ten largest community theatres in United States.
