Parking Downtown Indianapolis
The city of Indianapolis was extremely well planned to deal with traffic and parking issues during peak times. Unlike most cities, finding a parking space in downtown Indianapolis is not a hurricane task. It is extremely convenient due to the abundance of space on offer; there are over 70,000 parking spaces in the downtown area. All you need to do is look for the right spot in the right place. In addition, a lot of hotels in Indianapolis offer free parking space to their guests.
Parking in downtown Indianapolis will only become a problem if there is a major event or if it's a public holiday such as Martin Luther King's Day, New Years Eve, Christmas day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, etc.

Here are a few parking tips that will help you get a space for yourself even on the most crowded days in downtown
- Get in before everyone. It's a good idea to make it to your destination before the peak hour and then take it easy and exit only after the peak hour.
- Know the area you want to park in. As mentioned above, there is an abundance of parking space; all you need to do is find the right place by planning in advance.
- After you plan the area you want to park in, enter downtown from the side closest to the planned area. Also, while parking make sure you park in such a way that your car is facing the direction in which you want to head off.

- Wear comfortable shoes, as sometimes all planning can go wrong and you may have to walk a lot to get to your destination.
There are a number of parking meters available in downtown Indianapolis. All these meters are free after 6 pm during the week and on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays they are free all day.
